Nembhard inks 3-year extension with Pacers

The Indiana Pacers have agreed to an extension with guard Andrew Nembhard. Per multiple reports, the signing is a three-year, $59 million deal to keep the former second-round pick with the team. The team officially announced the move on July 26.

The Pacers took Nembhard with the No. 31 pick in the 2022 Draft and he has developed into a consistent performer for Indiana. Last season, he averaged 9.2 points, 2.1 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game on 49.8% shooting during the regular season. He was a key performer in the playoffs, putting up 14.9 ppg, 3.3 rpg and 5.5 apg on 56% shooting for Indiana, who reached the Eastern Conference Finals.
Nembhard rotated in and out of the starting lineup throughout the 2023-24 season, helping Indiana go 30-17 when he was in the top lineup. In the first round against the Milwaukee Bucks, Nembhard posted 13.8 ppg, 3.3 rpg and 4.7 apg and scored 20 points in a key Game 2 win in that series.
He also delivered a crucial moment in Game 3 of the East semifinals against the New York Knicks. Nembhard hit a 3-pointer with 17.8 seconds left to give Indiana its first win in the series as the Pacers would later oust the Knicks in Game 7 at Madison Square Garden.
The Pacers are investing in their young core of All-Star guard Tyrese Haliburton, forward Pascal Siakam, Nembhard and others. Haliburton signed a max contract extension with Indiana last summer and Siakam, whom the team acquired in January, signed a max extension earlier in the offseason.
Additionally, the team kept valuable forward Obi Toppin in the fold with an extension this summer and added frontline depth by signing former No. 2 overall pick James Wiseman as a free agent.
