Comes with a 0.5 ounce "ketchup packet" of MOEN 99915 Plumber's Silicone Grease. Grease is non-toxic and compatible with all rubber elastomers. This will make it A LOT easier to screw the lid on and off, especially if the lid has been closed for days, weeks, months, etc.
O-rings tend to conform to the contours of a surface, and they can have a tremendous amount of "breakout friction" if no lubricant is present. Silicone grease is highly viscous and is not water soluble, so it tends to stay around and keep the O-ring "greasy."
