    Description

    Pool Pump Seal Plate O-Ring For Sta-Rite Dura-Glas U9-228A U9-228 O-240.
    Nitrile Rubber (NBR, Buna-N), 70 Duro, Black
    Includes 3 0.5-ounce "ketchup packets" of MOEN 99915 Plumber's Silicone Grease. It is highly viscous, compatible with all rubber elastomers.

    Last, but not least:
    PLEASE READ - VERY IMPORTANT
    This O-ring is fairly large, with a nominal inner diameter of 10 inches, and a nominal thickness of 1/4 inch. When you receive this O-ring, it my look like two smaller O-rings, as It is coiled to fit into the quart-size plastic resealable bag.
    Also, this 10 inch diameter O-ring is installed in a vertical "face seal" groove. The purpose of the 3 grease packs is to help the O-ring "stick" to the groove, to help hold it in placed while you put the lid back on. Don't be afraid to put a liberal amount of grease on the O-ring, and in the groove itself, to help the O-ring stay in place.
    When installing this O-ring, please bear in mind that the same grease that helps it stick to the groove can also readily pick up dirt and debris. It is a very good idea to put down a flat, unopened plastic garbage bag, or similar clean plastic surface, to prevent the O-ring from touching the ground if you accidentally drop it while installing it in the groove.
    Lastly, there is a Youtube channel called "Sunshine TV", and they have a video titled "Removing a Sta-Rite Max-E-Glas 2 Pool Pump Motor and Installing a New Pump Motor". It takes you through the whole process, and he replaces the U9-228A O-ring in this video at the 9:25 mark.
