Beatnik Model Kit : Far Out Frantic Bongo Player “Punishing the Skins”

Up for sale is a "Frantic Banana Punishing the Skins" model kit. It is still sealed in its original shrink wrap . . . as a hipster might say . . . it's "Cool, Daddy-O".
The “Beatnik” stereotype prevalent throughout the 1950s to mid-1960s displayed the more superficial aspects of the Beat Generation literary movement of the 1950s. Elements of the beatnik group included pseudo-intellectualism, drug use, and a cartoonish depiction of real-life people along with the spiritual quest of Jack Kerouac's autobiographical fiction.
Back in the day, anyone who was a hipster was in constant pursuit of whatever was “cool,” a slang term that still manages to survive to this day (among oldsters, anyway). Musically, "cool" included a combination of jazz and bebop, or bop, music . . . a takeoff on jazz, but with a quicker beat and lots of improvisation.
This is a throwback kit made in 2005; the original "Frantic Banana" kit was made in the 1960s and was created as a series of popular music parodies conceived of and produced during the kooky monster craze that swept the United States from around 1957 through 1972. The kit is made in white plastic using the original vintage molds from the vaults of the Hawk Model Company (this is also true of the original vintage packaging design). The FRANTIC SERIES (as it was called) was based on concepts and art created by their often-used freelance illustrator Bill Campbell.
This model comes complete with step by step instructions to guide you through the assembly. You will need glue (not included) for this Hawk model kit. Not recommended for children under the age of 14.
If you decide to build the kit, to create an "over the top musical performance look" you should use paint (not included in the kit).
Personally, I displayed and enjoyed the kit just as it is, sealed in the box.
